HOCKEY.
A meeting of the Management Committeo of iho Wellington Hockey Association was held on Friday night. Present — Messrs. Organ (chairman), Pearson (secretary), Holmes, HollLs. Furby, Oram, Beere Bennett, M'lntyrt, Donovan, Clere, and Cathie. A request from the United 11. that tho Hutt-lfnited match, which ended in a draw, bo re-played on account of tho bad ctale of the ground on tho day of play was refused, but the Hutt Club, which controls'the ground, was instructed to nut the same in order. The Thorndon third eleven protested against a win by the Wellington 111. in their match, on the ground that the Weilington team had olayed a senior player. The protest was upheld and tho mutch awarded to the Thorndon team. The V.M C Af third eleven entered a protest agahvsx, a win by tho Victoria College 111., on tho ground that tho Col. loge learn Uad played two men whose names did not appear on their list of active members. This protest also was upheld, and the match awarded to the V.M.C.A. team. The secietary reported that Mr F. G. Bolton, a vice-president of the association, had offered to provide a trophy for the player showing the best play in a representative match, but the chairman and secretary had pointed out to Mr. Bolton that this might lead to too much individual nud Selfish pinj, tola tend to destroy tho combination of a team 'J nov had therefore thanked Mr. Bolton for hi 3 offer and requested that the trophy be withhold. Mr. Bolton intimated thnfc ho Mould be pleased to renew his offer if the association (should cnange its views.
