WELLINGTON WINTER MEETING ♦ TO-DAY'S RACING. (By Pigeon Express.) TRENTHAM, This Day. The Wellington Racing Club's winter carni\al is being brought to a closo -at Trent ham to-day. Heavy rain fell during the night, and in consequence the track is extremely heavy and sloppy. Tho weather is threatening, but the attendance appears well up to the average. With the bad going form may be deceptive, and it is quite on the cards that outsiders may prevail. Following are the results : — Onslow Handicap, of 100 soys ; second horse to receive 20 soys, and the third horse- 10 soys from the stake. Six furlongs. 549 Mr. H. Jackson). From an even despatch St. Claimer and Jolly Friar -wero the first to show in front. At tho half-mile post Kaiuku was rushed in the lead, being escorted by St. Claimer and Jolly Friar with Gawain and Do Witte improving their positions. Entering tho straight the field bunched and Reid moved on Jolly Friar, cvho ran home a comfortable winner by three lengths, a neck' be-, tween second and third, De Witte fourth : Kaiuku and Chicane whipping in.
