TWO SENTENCED TO IMPRISONMENT. By Telegraphy — Press Association.— Copyright. LONDON, 26th July. Charles Smith has been sentenced to penal servitude for life, and tho woman 1 Churchill, aiias Chicago May, to fifteen ' years' penal servitude, for attmpting to murder Eddio Guerin. Last month Guerin, an escapco from tho French penal settlement at Devil's Island, where he had been sent to serve a sentence of ten years' imprisonment for forgery, was shot and lamed in London by Charles Smith and a woman known as Chicago May. It was anther case of birds of a foather flocking together, the precious trio being members of a notorious gang of AngloAmerican thieves. Htiv/over, in this instance, the quotation regarding proverbial honour will nc-t fit in.
