Very interesting and amusing is tho "Diary of a ModcnrDandy," which has been copiod for "Notes and Queries" by a correspondent. It is aloo of considerable value to students of philology, as it may help to fix dates for tho entry into our language of various illusions and phrases. Th.> last I nil" gave way in stooping to -pick up ..ndy B.s glove — tho .Oukc of C © vulgar enough to laugh, and asked me in the «uv slang if 1 had not 'missed stays in tacking.' Find this to be an old joko stolen from 'Tho Fudge Family.' — Query: Who is "Tom Brown? — not known at Long's or tho Clarendon. "Five to seven. — Dressed _ for the evening — dined at half-past eight; 'nobody with me but niys>elf,' as tho old Duko of Cumberland taid— a' Meat din-
nor in Long's best style, vii., a tureen of turtle, a small turbot, a dish of Carlton— cutlets. Remove: A turkey poult and an apricot tarfc. — Dessert,": ■finoappb and brandy cherries. Dranl; two tumblers of the Eegeni's punch, iced, and a pint of Madeira — went to the op«ra in high spirits — just overforgot the curtiin drops on Saturdayn before 12.— Mem.— To dine at seven 6n Saturdays.
