(Now South Wales) and two others woro fined on a chargo of instigating tho strike in connection with tho timber trado trouble. Stay of proceedings was granted with a view to an appeal. (At Forth on 26th April, the Registrar of Friondly Societies served a summons upon Mr. Holman, M.L.A., president of tha Timber Relief Committee, and Mr. D. Jonca and Mr. T. Ryan, presidont and secretary respectively of the Sawmillcrs' Union, that between 17th March and 4th April, they "did aid in doing a thing in tho naturo of a strike." This is o violently tho chargo on which tho convictions and fines havo been recorded. Mr. Holman has beon a *ory prominent figure in Labour and Democratic circles in Sydney during recent years. He had so great a sympathy tor tho timber workers or West Australia that ho_took up the position of hon Bee-rotary of their union for the purpose of fighting their cause when they became dissatisfied with tho award of the Arbitration Court.
