TENDERS ACCEPTED FOR NEW WING. ' - The tender of Mr. Michael Frain, of Invercargill, at £21,453, has been accepted for the erection in brick of the new portion of the Parliament Buildings fronting Sydney-street. Tho unsuccessful tenderers were : — Rhodes, Wateon and Son, Dunedin, £22,584; J. and A. Wilson 1 , Wellington, £24,327; J. and W. Jamieson, Christchurch, £24,509; Martin, Hurrell and Snaddon, Wellington, £26,840; W. H. Bennett, Wellington, £27,396; Howie and Matthews, Wellington, £28,434; Sanders Bros., Wellington, £31,865 ; M'Kinnon and Hamilton, Dunedin, £32,008.

liw Inspector, ot Factories, Mr. J/B. Lindsav. prosecuted John H. Marwick. in tho Magistrate's Court this afternoon for having failed to pay a femalo assistant ior Easter Monday, and having failed to give two assistants a Saturday halfholiday on 30th March. Tho prosecutor explained that the defendant was a tailor in Vivian-stroct. Tho girls, ho said, called the defendant's attention to tho fact that thoy were working without a certificate on this particular Saturday afternoon. Tho defendant, according to the Inspector, replied that no certificate could be granted for overtime on a Saturday; all that was required was for them jto keep out of the way of- the Inspector. Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., imposed a fine of 10s, with 9s costs, 'on tho first information, and 40s, with 11s costs, on the second. Mr. C. J. Cooper, Christchurch manager of tho Liverpool, London, 'and Globo Insuranco Company, who has been on a health trip to Sydney, leaves Wellington for Christehnrch this evening. Mr. W. Ramoy, etddlor, Mannors-itreet, announces a retiring from buiinees s*le.
