' India's death roll r.s a result of thi plague, for cis weoks, totals 451,892, including £86,777 in the Punjab. With the approach of tho hot woather (says a Calcutta message of Bth March in tho Times cf India) plaguo is onco again increasing l in a:i alarming manner. Tha roburns for tho last week shov; that 38,C66 seizures resulted in no fewer than 33, 70S deaths. The piincipal mortality 13 reported from tho Punjab, where 11,833 deaths occurred, and tha United Provinces, where there wero '10/67 fatal crssa. 3746 deathi arc reported in Bombay, 2971 in Bengal, 2440 in tho Central Provinces, 340 in Burma, and 319 in Central India. There were a few casca in Mysoro, Madras, Rrjnutana, and Kashmir. * f Inoculation as a provontL+a of plague is being freely oiTvocafcod by tho Go\ornrnent of India, but the natives aro not so euro of its good effects.
