STATE COAL.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I was very pleased t t o read "Taxpayer's" letter in your columns ;<, few nights ago, re tho way in which tho State Coal Department caters for tho peoplo of the city. I write in support of what "Taxpayer" says. I have given my order to the 4op°t and paia :ny money, but received no coal until T mado several appeals to them, and being put to extra expense through tram fare. I hold I havo a. perfect right to demand propor attention. Wo aro asked through their advertisements, even on the tram tickots, to buy the Stato coal. Then why don't they make proper arrangements for tho delivery. Why don't thoy start yards in tho parts where tho demands exceed their facilities to supply. I am beginning to think it i 3 not tho public they are catering for; if it was things would bo very different. Thero is plenty of coal in the mine, plenty of hands to work it. Thero is plenty of money in the Treasury, and plenty of land in tho city, and plenty of all that's necessary to make the depot a success. Then why a littlo tin-pot show to supply a city like this. — 7 am, etc., ANOTHER TAXPAYER.
