TO TIIE EDITOR.. Sir, — May I ask through the niodium of your paper can thoso in favour of Wednesday half-holiday tell mo why their shops remain ompty when there is a race day falls on a Saturday. When do pooplc do thoir shopping on these occasions. Tho writer is an assistant in one of tho oldest rotail firms of tho city (a grocer), and knows that peoplo only shop on Saturday from force of habit. In larger cities than Wellington, Saturday half-holiday has proved a complete success. — I am, etc., HOPEFUL,
