The Rand Volunteers have been ordered to bo in readiness to mobilise The Government is determined to maintain order, and to prevent intimidation during the strike. It was recently cabled that some of tho miners in charge of machine* had struck, owing to an increase in the numbers of machines pet under their care. COBAR COPPER MINES IDLE. SYDNEY, 16th May. All the copper mines in tho Cobar district aro practically idle, owing to a striko of employees for higher wages and preference to unionists.
