The Jean Bairt is a third-class cruiser of 4044 tons and 10,000 indicated horsepower, enabling her to steam 19 knots an hour. She was built at Rochefort at a cost of £283,240, and launched in 1891. Her dimensions are — Length 346 ft, beam 43£ ft, draught 194 f t; armament, 10 large and 23 small guns ; complement, 332 men.
