J At Addington livo stock market to-day ! there was an exceptionally heavy yarding of all classes of sheep and fat cattle and fair entries of other stock. Store sheep showed a considerable drop in. price, especially lembs. Prime freezings lambs were ! farm, competition being rendered more i keen by the presence of Mr. M'Cullough, I John Cooke and Co.'s buyer, from Molbourne, who was hero last year. Fat I sheep sold well, owes being rather firmer. Except for very prime sorts prices of fat cattle were easier in consequence- 'of a very heavy yarding Pigs of all classes sold ■well. Store and dairy cattle were dull of 6ale. Store Sheep.— The shortage of feed | caused heavy entry of store sbcep, tho bulk being lambs and wothere, and there waa a considerable decline iv prices all round, backward lambs selling at very low rates. The principal sales were — 331 aged ewes 7s 2d, 80 at 7h 9d, 61 at Bs, 70 boilers 2s 6d ; 445 two and four-tooth wether* 12j $d, 283 12» Zd, 330 two-tooths 10s 9d, 80 79 4d ; 179 wethers and ewes 9s Sd, 181 lambs 8s 6d to 9s, 30 8s &d to 8s lOd, 92 7s sd, 216 6s 3d, 341 6s Id, 93 5s 3d, 110 3s 3d to 5s 3d, 465 3s 3d to 3s 9tl. Fat Lambs.— There wore 9226 fat lambs penned, the largest ontry of tho season. A fair proportion was of primo quality, but many lots were only in store condition and wore bought by graziers. Thoro was good competition right through the sale, and pricey for prime freezers were firmer, whilo unfinished lots which were I mojtly bought by graziers, were oasior in sympathy with the decline in the store market Primo frqezers mado 153 to 18, a few extra lots to 18s sd, medium 133 to 14a 6d, backward 7s 9d to 12s 6tl. Fat Sheep. — There wna also a very largo . yarding of fat cheep, mostly ewes, with a few good lines of wethers. There was no change in tho prioo for wethers, Tjut all good ewes fit for freezing wero rather | firmer. The range of prices was: — Primo i wether* 17a Gji to 20s 9d, otheM 14s 2tl to 17s, primo ewes 143 6d to 17s 3d, medium 12s to 14s, ngetl 8s to lls 6d ; msrino I wethers 8s 3d to 9s 9d. ! Fafc Cattle— There was a record ror^inc; | of fat cattle, 362 head being penned, which was 24 more than at tho tlcublo market before Christmas. Thero wns a number of lines of primo stecnj, but the bulk of the yarding was light and unfinished. AH classes sold well. Medium quality, showing acm.e improvement, brought £4 12s 6d to £10 17s 6d, heifers £4 12s 6d to £7, cowb £4 to £6, equal to 21s 6d to 23s 6d, and 18s to 20s for medium per 1001b. Vcol calves made 3s to 15s for small and up to 35s for well finished sortf. Store and Dairy Cattle— Thero was a large entry of al' classes of store cattle, including two or three lines of two and three year steers. There was a very peer demand, and most of the lots that changed hands were bought for potting. Calves mado 12s 6d, yearling? 23s to 255, a line of 23 two and a half year hoifers from the South 35s 6d, fomard heifers £3 to £3 10«, dry cows 20s to £3 6s. The United Farmers' Co-oparathc Association, Limited, quotes as follows:— '•Feed oats 2s lid, seed Duns 3s 2d, whole fowlwheat 3s lOd, seed barley 4b, br&n £5 per ton, pollard £6, nwwc 3s lOd, Prussian Blue peas (seed) 5s 6d, Partridge peas (seed) 5s 6d, prime oatshoaf chaff £4 15s and £5 per ton. Sunlight oil cake £8 10s, baled straw £2 15s, Canterbury hay £6, Poneke pigmeal £6, Poneke calfmeal 13s per cwt in 251b bags, cocksfoot 4£d to sid per Ib, Italian ryegrass 5s 6d pei bushel, heavy machine-dressed ryegrass 5s to 63 per bushel, flour, 200's £9 103 per ton, 100' a £10, oatmeal, 25's £14. Lawes* superphosphates £5 5s per ton, bonodust £6. Mr. H. Ernest Leighton reports:— At my rtock sale, hold in the Lower Hutt Yards on Wednesday, there wzs a large attendance of buyers present. Competition was keen throughout, and all lines sold at top values. Eomney rams realised £1 3s to £3 33, according to quality, old rams at 123 ; springing cows and heifers, from £3 tp £5 lie; cows in milk, from £4 3s to £5 15s , cows and calves, from £2 10s to £3 Is ; empty heifew, £2 9§ ; light harness horses, £5 4s to £10 ; van and brake horses, from £12 to £27 10s ; and two heavy draught mares, on sccount of Sir. Con. O'Conncll, for £52 and £55 respectively.
