THE BLANCHE ARRAL CONCERTS.
The second operatic recital, to be given by Madame Blanche Arral in the Town Hall this evening, after her brilliant debat on Monday, is .certain to excite a great deal of interest. The new numbers by the French soprano will include the famous aria from Gounod's grand opera, "If I Were King," "The Nightingale's Song" from Massi's opera, "The Wedding of Jeanette," the well-known hibanera from Bizet's "Carmen," and that magnificent scena "Ah fors c lvi" from Verdi' 6 "La Traviata/' Amongst the lighter songs to be submitted by Madame Arral are Braga's serenata, a Spanish bolero full of dash and vim, Gounod's Serenade, and other popular numbers. The advent of a vocalist of such merit as Madame Arral should be a lesson to aspiring vocalists. She is without any question or doubt the finest exponent of the French school of singing New Zealand has ever welcomed, and she ia amongst the brightest of the artistic sopranos of the first rate who have visited this country. Her indisputable charm of voice and the ease of her vocalisation were at once recognised at her first concert with genuine enthusiasm, and the bravura style 'of to-night's programme should draw a large attendance. Herr Paans, the violinist, and Signor Torzillo, harpist, will contribute some of their favourite solos, and altogether the programme is a well-selected and interesting one, to suit not only the musicalcult, but also the general public.
