Reuter's agent at Kingston, the centre of the recent disaster in Jamaica, states that at a meeting held under the auspices of tho Kingston Merchants Exchange, a resolution was passed declaring that the Government officials were out of touch with tho community and unable to cope with the situation. The Globe states that the resignation of Sir J. A. Swettenham, Governor of Jamaica, has been accepted. The resignation, it adds, was due to facts coming to light of which he was not told and of which he ought to have been told.
