TRAMWAY RECEIPTS.
The tramway returns for the four weeks ending 25th December of last year have, owing to tho holidays, only just been completed. The receipts were as follow — Traffic receipts, £7380 13s sd ; sale of current, £126 13s 3d; sundry receipts, £10 4s lOd ; total, £7517 lls 6d, an excess of £632 196 6d over the receipts for tho same period in 1905. The operating costs for the four weeks are divided as follows : — Power. £659 16s 3d; traffic, £3339 17 S sd; overhead, £140 14s 6d; permanent way, £136 Is sd; general, £246 8s sdj total, £4522 18s (or £527 3s more than laet year's period), making the excess of revenue over expenditure, £2994 13s 6d. The receipts per car mile wore 14. 1 id, as compared with 13.11 d for the corresponding period of the previous year, and the total cost per car mile was 8.63 d, leaving a profit of 5.72 d per car mile. The number of passengers carried and tho receipts on tho various sections were: —lsland Bay to Government Station, -437,056 passengers, receipts £1659; Newtown to Tinakori-road, 628,405, £2621; Constable-etreet to Manawatu. station, 230,706, £961; Oriental Bay to Thorndon Esplanade, 179,862, £749; Wallace-street to Government Station, 102,806, £429; Aro-street to Government Station, 129,009, £451; Austinstreet to Government Station, 38.- ( 5 < 12, £160.
