WHARF LABOURERS CARNIVAL.
SPORTS AT NEWTOWN PARK,
The Wellington Wharf Labourers' Union held its annual carnival at> Newtown Park on Boxing Day, when a long programme of sports was gone through*! Jupp's Band enlivened the proceedings with excellent music, and there was a giant swing provided for entertainment of the young children. Married Women's Mrs. Severn 1, Airs. Clare 2, Mrs. Reeves 3, Mrs. Thompson 4. Skipping Competition, Rose Moschini 1, Francis Tringrovo 2. Stevedores' Race, Casey 1, Carr 2, Hetherington 3, Winters 4. Thread the Needle Race, J. Holland 1. Reeves 2. C. Turner 3. Committccmen'n Hacc, Carr 1, iHethqrington 2, Winter 3, Curry 4. Sack Race, H. Taylor 1, Bowden 2, Emeny 6, Holland 4. v Three-logged Race, Pasley and Essop l/ Morris and Kutner 2. Taylor and Phillips 3, Shannon and Deman 4. The Tugoi war event was won by Ryrie's team, which consisted of A. Lloyd, A. M'Kinnon, J. Grlvin, J. Sadler, T. Gallagher, T. W. Reynold, A. Hamilton, G. Cuypiner, M. Gksset, and L. Price. The Cumberland Wrestling was won by Smith, with Grosyenor second. In the lightweigths division Edwards got, first prize and Whitburn second.
