His resignation was made remarkable by tho capsizing of the turict ship Captain a few weeks afterv/ords. Mr. Reed afterwards entered Parliament, and wiss Lord of the Treasury at one time- during Mr. Gladstone's administration. Ho was created a K.C.B. in 1880.
