THE EXHIBITION.
{BT TEt,EOHAFH. — PBE3S ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, 20th November. There was a very fair number of visitors at the Exhibition to-day. Among tho visitors who arrived this morning were about eighty pupils of the school for deaf mutes at Sumner, who appeared to thoroughly enjoy tho show. Since the receipt of exhibits has almost ceased, and most of the courts and stands aie complete, the building lias become much quieter.- The main hall, with the statuary and palms and foliage plants, is now more admired than ever. The atteudanco during the day and evening totalled 9281, which brings the total to date to 268,090. The Home Industries Committee has inacle arrangements for judging the needle and decorative work in this section. The first ( meeting of judges was hold at the Exhibition this afternoon. Matters in connection with the Exhibition management are working quite j smoothly, Tho first meeting of the commissioners under the new arrangement was held to-day, tho Hon. W. Hail-Jones', Minister in charge of the Exhibition, presiding. A great deal of detail business was transacted at the meeting. A deputation, introduced by Mr. A. B. Robinson (Victorian Commissioner), consisting of representatives of South Aus--traliau, Victorian, and New South Wales H'ino manufacturers, waited on the Hou. W. Hall-Jones to-day with tho request that tho duty of 1b per bottle should be removed from Australian wino3 used for sample purposes in the Exhibition. The Minister, in reply, stated that ho would bring the mat tor under the notice of his colleagues.
