When the To.achers' Superannuation A.ct -"Amendment Bill was introduced iu-i-o the House yesterday afternoon, the Leader of the Opposition asked the Minister of Education whether he proposed to c&rry' out an actuarial recommendation made last year, and transfer the sum of £17,000 from the Consolidated Fund to the Teachers' Superannuation Iftind, ap as -to put the latter fund on a sound 'basis? The question gains point from the fact that last year, when they rt*re" private members, "Messrs. Fowlds, Millar, and M'Nab, who are now Ministers, fought errenuously for the adoption of the actuarial recommendation. " Yesterday the Hon. Mr. Fowlds replied that he did not intend to deal with the question raised by Mr. Massey. The Bill only contained machinery amendments required by the board set up under the principal Act.
