ACTION AGAINST AN EDITOR.
» [BY TELEORArd.—.-PKESS ASSOCIATION. ] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Mr. Huie, editor of Truth, is being prosecuted to-day. by 'Mr. Macpherson, inspector of dairies. Truth published an article from a special reporter, in which the shocking state of certain dairies was described. Mr. Macpherson, with a view to proceeding against the dairymen for breaches of the Act, went to Mr. Huie and naked the name of tho reporter and the names of the dairies referred to. •Mr. Huie refused, and asked that tho request be made in writing. He was supplied with requests in writing, but ptill refused to give the information. Contending that the refusal was an offence under the Act, Mr. Macpherson took proceedings. After a lengthy argument, tho Magistrate said the only person liable to prosecution for refusing to give information was the person connected with the dairy. He dismissed the case. The Crown Prosecutor said th© case would be taken to a higher court.
