After the results had been announced, Mr. Butler received a. lucrative appointment as' locum teriens for a leading Illinois dentist, which he intends keeping until the university reopens. He will then fro through a further course of etudy, after which he will return to Wellington to practice his profession, in partnership with his brother; News has been received by cable of the death in England of Mr. William > Lomax, of Wellington, who was inspector of works for Messrs. Ross and Glendining for the pact thirty-two years. The deceased went Home in March, and intending returning this month in Order to carry out the erection ,of the firm's new warehouse in Auckland. He succumbed, however, to, an attack of pneumonia whilst on a visit to Blackburn, Lancatkire, where he was born fifty-six yeais *go. The late Mr. Lomax built the JRoslyn Woollen Mills for Messrs. Ross and Glendining, and he also carried out the erection of every warehouse belonging to the firm in New Zealand, also preparing the plans. He has left a- widow and family of five (two sons and three daughters.).
