HOCKEY.
♦ CANTERBURY v. OTAGO. (bt telegraph. — rsESS associa.tioh.l DUNEDIN, 15th September. The interprovincial hockey match Can* terbury v. Otago was played on the Caledonian Ground to-day in bad weather, rain falling for good part of the time, and the ground consequently being greasy. At the beginning a hot spell occurred in front of the Otago goal, and a, corner was conceded, which Otago cleared well. Otago then attacked, but the chance was lost, and a good passing rush by Canterbury was well stopped by Holley. Otago then had a turn at attacking. The Canterbury combination was better, but individually the Otiigo men more than held their own. After 'prolonged attack, Adams shot a goal. v On changing 'ends, Otago renewed the attack, but Canterbury cleared. Some exciting play followed, and on several occasions a score seemed imminent. At length Doig equalised the score by shooting a goal for Canterbury. The visitors clearing well from the corner shortly after, cat up a strong attack, which, eventually resulted in Doig again scoring what proved to be tile winning goal — Canterbury, 2; Otago, 1. Tho teams dined together this evening. LADIES' ASSOCIATION. SENIOR. Victoria College v. Wellington. — This game -was played on Wesley ground, Miramar, and resulted in a win for Victoria College by 9 goals to nil — shot by Misses Macintosh (5), Stiack (3), Scott (1). Mr. Becie was referee. Thorndon v. Kiwi. — The Thorndon ladies only had nine players, and after 7 goals had beau shot in six minutes, Thorndon gave Kiwis the game. Mr. Hollis was referee. Ngatiawa. v. Petone. — This match •was played on Ko., 4 ground, Day's Bay, and, after a very keenly-contested game, Petone won by 1 goal to nil. Mr. W. J. Organ controlled the game. JUNIOR. Kir - i won by default from Victoria College B. Huia A v. Huia B. — After a fast and furious game, in which both sides endeavoured to obtain the fiupronvicy, the ball never once pierced the defence of either side. Mr. Rowe was referee. St. John's A defeated Thorndon by 3 goals ,to nil. v Misses Webster and Burns (one each) scored, the third being the result of a scuffle round the goal. Mr. Patterson refereed. St. John's B defeated Mount Cook girls by 11 goals to nil — .shot by Missro Patterson (6), Gendall (4), and Lloyd. Girls' College A were.defeatod for the first time this season byvVictoria College A by 2 goals to 1. Misa TaveadaJe shot tho goals for Victoria College, and Miss Faulke scored for Girls' College. Mr. Ryburn controlled the gumo. Wellington won by default from Girls' College B.
