YESTERDAY'S SITTINGS. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL." The Council continued sitting after the Post went to press yesterday. THE LAND QUESTION. An innocent-looking return was responsible for a debate on tho land question. The Hon. J. D. Ormond spoke at considerable length, and the Hon. T. Kelly also had a good deal to say. Their remarks on the subject are reported elsewhere. , BILL .PASSED. The Training Ships ' BiH was read a third time .and passed. FISHERIES CONSERVATION. The Fisheries Conservation Act Amendment Bill was recommitted for the purpose of amending tho construction of certain clauses. COMMITTALS. The Registration of Births Extension Bill and tUe Opium Prohibition Act Amendment Bill were put through their committee, stages without amendment, read a third timo and passed. The Juvenile Offenders Bill and. the Sale of Explosives Bill were put through their committee stages, and reported with slight amendments. The Council adjourned at '4.4o p.m. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. After the Post went to press yesterday the House devoted itself to consideration of the Estimates. Tho whole of the evening sitting was also devoted to the Estimates. The House rose at 12.15 p.m.
