A meeting , of the Railway (Seddon) Memorial Fund Committee was held in the Railway Library Rooms last night. It'was reported that sub-committees were constituted at Petone Workshops, Upper Hutt, Cross Creek, Masterton, Woodville, Dannevirke, Waipukurau, and Napier. The almost unanimous voting was in favour of setting aside' all railway subscriptions' to the Seddon National Memorial Fund towards the formation of a Seddon Railway Widows' Relief Fund. It wps unanimously decided that all sub-commit-tees throughout tho Wellington-Napier district (including the members of the A.S.R.S. and. R.O. Institutes) should amalgamate in contributing all surplus from social functions to the Seddon Railway Widows'' Relief Fund. The replies received, from the various sub-corn-nhittees make it apparent that this fund will be annually contributed, to, apart from the surplus from social gatherings. ' The Wellington Lawn Tennis Club's annual report, dated 31st August, shows receipts £303 15s 6d and expenditure £265 13s 3d, which, with a balance of £93 2s from last year, leaves a credit balance at bank of £37 2s 3d, and £41 4s on fixed deposit. The club membership is 39 active women and 53 | active men, 13 junior, 9 honorary. Last season the club had its most successful period since its inception. Besides winning the senior shield, which carries vrith it the championship of the province, the club won the third-class pencant, and was runner-up fdr the junior cup.
