IMPORTANT LICENSING CASE.

fUI TELEGKAni.— I'RESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, This Day. Before Mr. Justice Cooper, John Outred, holder of an accommodation license in the Waikouaiti district, applied for a mandamus to compel tho licensing committee to grant a renewal of the license. The committee at the annual meeting, in giving effect to tho reduction poll, refused Outred's renewal. He claimed that the Act provides for a reduction of publican's licenses, and that to refuse an accommodation license under the circumstances was wrong in law. Mr. Adams, for the committee, consented to the order, but the judge said the point was so important that he would not make an order without argument. The case is to be argued on Monday.
