WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION. A meeting of the Management Commitr tee of the Wellington Rugby Union Vas held last ' evening. Thpre werp present . Messrs. S. S. Brown (in the chair), D. D. Weir L. B. Jordan, J. F. O'Sullivan, W. Hales, H. M'lntyre, T Hunter, F. Alpe (hon. treasurer), J. D. 4^ery (secretary) The Referees' Association wrote asking what action the union intended totake in regard to the charge of bias against tfhe -referee in the Petone-Wel-lington senior match. Mr. M'lntyre did not think the union should take the matter up, ha nothing could, be gained, as the case would simply be one man's word against another's. It was decided to take no further action. * The Public School representative team was granted permission to play n. match with the Taranaki School representatives at Wellington bn 30th inse. A Petone fourth-class player, OTdered oft the field on 2nd June for the alleged use of bad language to the referee, was examined by the committee and denied having used bad language. The case was adjourned pending the appearance of the referee. Mr. J. Pudney forwarded his resignation a 6 a member of the Junior Selection Committee. The Johnsonville Club was granted permission to make .a presentation of a. trophy to Mr! F. Cording, who is about to leave the district. The Petone division of the St. John Ambulance Association asked for permission to put a squad of its members on the Petbne ground every Saturday. The request 'was granted, and it was decided to thank the Petone division for ids offer. The chairman, made reference to a seTious allegation levelled against a referee in a match played on the Wellington College ground recently, it had been stated that the referee in question had been requested by both teams to leave the field, but had refused to do so. Another member of the committee said he had made enquiries into tlhe matter, and had been assured that the teferee wits not in a fit condition to control the game. The committee decided to go thoroughly into the matter at next meeting. The question of representative fixtures was discussed. A communiciUion was received from the Canterbury Union suggesting 18th August as the dote for. the Canterbury - Wellington match. The Manawatu Union asked for a date for its match with Wellington. The Wairarapa Union wished to know if it was the intention to send a, Wednesday representative team to the Wairarapa this year, and also what would be" the earliest date on which the Wellington JunioTS and AVairaTapa Juniors could/ meet. . The subcommittee eet iip recently to go into the matter brought down its recommendations, which included a clause to send the team direct to Auckland, and then to New Plymouth and Palmerston North, dropping out tho Hawkes Bay fixture.. After- some- discussion Mr. Weir moved l tihat the matches, against the Southern Unions should be played before the representative team leaves on its northern tour ; also that the 18th of August be accepted for fl}e Canterbury-Wellington, match if that date suits the other matches, and that negotiations be entered into with Otago and Southland ,to arrange dates'. Consideration of tile northein tour to be left over until after the southern matches have been arranged. This was agreed to.
