SICKNESS ON A BARQUE.
|MT TW/BOBAm.—PRESS ASSOCIATION,] AUCKLAND, 19th June. •fhe Norwegian barque Agda arrived at Doubtless Bay on Saturday last. She reported that the second mate had died, and that Captain Tnversen and the crew Were in a yery low state of health. Doctor Forbes and the Customs officer boarded the vessel, qn,d found the captain and orew in a, scorbutic condition, with great weaipess and a swelling of tho lower limbs, due to want of fresh vegetables. 1^ is dpubfful whether the mep are suffering from bw-beri or scurvy. Pr- Frengloy, health officer, is endeavouiinjj to have tho vessel brought to Auckland, so that the sufferers can, be treated properly. The vessel is eightyope 4aja. out from Parrahyba, South Amerjoa, bound for Tonga.
