MR. JEFFRAY'S INVESTIGATIONS. [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received June 19, 10.20 a.m.) ■MELBOURNE, This Day. Mr. Jeffray, Commissioner of tho Board of Trade, in an address delivered before the Chamber of Commerce, stated that he had obtained complete schedules showing the course of imports both into the Commonwealth and New Zealand for twenty-five years. Ho had accumulated a" great deal of information. When seeking to trace the cause of the decline of British imports to Australia, ho had always been met with the answer that British manufacturers did not seem inclined to make what their customers wanted, but the Germans and others wero ready to make anything that was required.
