THE BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.
The report and balance-sheet of this national institution for the year ended 31st March last disclose another period of extreme prosperity. Th© profits of the bank hay© been larger than in the previous year, the actual net profits amounted to £330,329 14s 3d, as compared with £320,908 11s for the previous year. A better idea oi what the bank has accomplished will b© gathered from th© results of the past three financial years. The net profits were as under : —
The profits in three years totalled t. little short of a million sterling, and this must bo regarded as very handsome. The profits of the three years are appropriated as follows :
Th« large- payments to the Assets Board must have pretty well cleared up the deficiences; at all events, last year it was stated that the profits available this year would accomplish that. However, the Bank of New Zealand is now in a thoroughly sound condition, with every prospect of becoming thoroughly independent of the State.
