The four-monthly sittings of the Supreme Court were opened to-day by Judae Denniston. The case of Connell v. Eerald -Newspaper Company occupied the whole day. Judgment was reserved. There are no criminal coses. TIjMARU, This Day. The Education Board received twentyseven app'icntions for the directorship of tschnical education in Timaru, and selected Mr. R. Grant, of Wanganui. For a clerkship in the office seventy-three applications were received, and the board selected Mr. J. Miller, now in the Otago Education Office.
