THE FARMERS' UNION.

The Colonial President of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, Mr. J. Q. Wilson, wired to the Hon, Mr. HallJones : "Please convey from the members of the Farmers' Union their heartfelt sympathy to family and colleagues at the loss to the colony and Empire of a great statesman and Imperialist mourned by all colonists." In a letter to Mr. Hall-Jones, Mr. i Wilson says : "Personally, I feel lam unable to express adequately the appreciation of the many thousands of members of my union who admired the deceased statesman, and who acknowledge that though he did not always see eye to eye with us, yet realised that his earnestness in endeavouring to do what was right and in the interests of the colony as a whole left no room for doubt as to the honesty of his intentions in matters pertaining to that portion of the community which my union voices." His Excellency the .Governor paid a visit of condolence yesterday to Miss Seddon and other members of the family in Wellington. Municipal and public bodies, friendly society lodges, employers' associations and labour unions, political and social organisations, semi-public bodies, private associations and companies, religious organisations, clubs, and other bodies have passed resolutions of sympathy, all deploring the loss the colony hu austaiaed bjs the death' of Mr. Sea-
