THE LATE MR. SEDDON.
« TRIBUTE FROM THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. THE LATE PREMIER'S SERVICES TO DEMOCRACY. [PBE33 ASSOCIATION^ LONDON, 13th June. Sir Charles Dilke presided at a gathering representing nearly all sections of the House of Commons. In moving a motion of condolence, ho eulogised Mr. Seddon's services to the democracy, whose constancy Mr. Seddon had won, kept, and deserved by his courage, strength, and sense. Mr. Cathcart Wason (formerly a member of the New Zealand House of Representatives) seconded the motion, which was supported by Sir Gilbert Parker, Mr. Ramsay Macdonald (Labour), and the Right Hon. T. Burt (Labour). Sir Joseph Ward (New Zealand Post-master-General) acknowledged the resolution on behalf of the bereaved family and the Government and people of New Zealand. In his letter to Mr. Reeves Mr. Chamberlain says : "The Empire has lost one of its noblest citizens an 3 the colony of New Zealand a great administrator."
