OTAGO UNIVERSITY.

[BY TEI.7SB.APH — PBESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, 13th June. Several local members of Parliament met the Otago University Council to-day to consider the wants of the University, in connection with the mining school. The present building has become so dilapidated that its use cannot be continued much longer. In view of the assistance already rendered to the University by the public, and the many recent claims, members^ thought that the Government should be approached for the £4000 required to erect a new school and its continuance, and £750 per annum for maintenance. As showing the good work done, it was pointed out that the school bad provided two out of three Rhodes scholars and three 1851 Exhibition Science scholars. It was decided to call for tenders for the dental school building, the funds for which are almost wholly provided by the dentists of the colony.
