"WIDE-WORLD" PANTOSCOPE.
The continued popularity of the Pantoscope was ehown last night by the .appreciative audience at tlhe Town Hall. A new feature was the appearance of the Australian contralto, Miss Novello, whose ! two ballads, "Would You Care?" (Harris), and the march song, "Sister," were sung with great taste and expressionMiss Novello's voice is sweet and pure j in qualifJv, and every note was distinctly heard in' the large hall. The tinted magic-lantern illustrations and the songs ■were above the average in quality. The local subjects — the wonders and terrors of the thermal region, and an eight-hour j demonstration in Wellington — were exceedingly good, and the spectacular illusion films were excellent examples of the unrivalled skill of the French in this particular department. The admirable tea scenes, the sagacious "Rover," and other subject* were heartily applauded. There will be a matinee on Saturday afternoon, and the evening performance will close the season.
