BRITISH NEW GUINEA. ADMINISTRATOR'S ANNUAL REPORT.

[r-KKSS ASSOCIATION.! SYDNEY, 29th December. - The report of tho Administrator of British New Guinea for the year 1904-5 shows that affairs are- practically at a standstill. The revenue for the year totalled £19,000, and the expenditure over £36,000. Trade is valued at £143,000— an increase of £22,000 over the previous year. , The report refers to the slow rate of progress made in developing the vast and valuable agricultural resources of the possession. The report adds that though the natives generally show little inclination to work, the influence of the Government and the wholesome dread of authority, united with confidence in the Government to redress wrongs, has had a salutary effect, in diminishing tribal warfare.
