Information was received in Wellington this morning that the Governor, acting on the recommendation of his Ministers, had, commuted the sentence ' of death passed upon Lionel Terry for the murder of ft Chinaman in Haimng-jstreet to imprisonment for life. Tho prisoner is understood to have received the announcement with indifference. His health continues good, but it is stated that he still expresses a hope that he may be hanged. Terry will continue to be kept in the Terrace Gaol. . .
