RIFLE SHOOTING.
THE SYDNEY MEETING. WINNER OP THE KING'S PRI2E. [rBESS ASSOCIATION.] SYDNEY 1 , 20th October. The shoot-off for the King's Prize — in which Corporal Edwards, of the Australian Rifles, and H. Motton, of Charters Towers, tied with scores of 218 — resulted in Motton winning, after an oxciting contest. Each man scored three "bulls," then Motton's fourth shot was a "bull," and Edwards registered an inner. Adverse weather conditions affected the shooting in the final stages of the match. One marksman made the possible at the 900 yards range, and failed to hit the target at 1000 yards. Irvine, of Nelson, finished eleventh, and won £5. Hawthorne (Wellington) and Franklin (Weber) yon £3 each. Fianklin tied with three others for second place in the Finn Match, and won £2 ss. Irvine won £1.
