FEDERAL TARIFF.
ENCOURAGING AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRIES. [press association .1 SYDNEY, 16th October. At the annual dinner of the Chamber of Manufactures, Mr. Deakm announced that when the time came the issue put before the people would-be tariff revision, with the express purpose of encouraging Australian industries. Every kind of consideration would be given to preferential trado within tho Empire ; in fapt, negotiations were proceeding with Canada, and South Africa to that end.
