AUCKLAND, This Day. Mr. White, mate of tho scow Hawk, states that the main rigging had carried away, and in face of the strong wind she had to cross tho bar against the signal "dangerous." On the bar the Hawk shipped two seas. The- second carried Captain MacDennott and the mate (White) overboard. The latter seized the gunwale of the boat and saved himself, but Captain MacDermott was lost. It was impossible to make any effort to rescue the captain, as high seas hid everything else from view.
