LIGHTING OF WEBB-STREET.
• 1 ' TO THE EDITOE. Sir — I would like to draw the attention of the City Fatheis to the disgraceful manner in which Webb-street is at present lit up in jthe evenings, there being only two or three small lights between the Cuba and Taranaki street corners, which is not nearly sufficient for a street like the one in question. There are several shops in the street, besides a hotel and a church, and there is consequently a, fair amount of traffic at night. On Friday evening last an accident occurred in the street by which a man met his death through a tramcar running him down. I don't wish to insinuate for one, minute that if the street had been better lit up the occurrence would not have occurred, but what I do wish to impress on the Council is the fact that unless"' the street is seen to at once there is every chance of similar accidents occurring at any time in the f^ure. — I am, etc., LIGHT WANTED. Taranaki-street, 6th September.
