RECENT FIGHTING.
THE RUSSO-JAPANESE WAR. [MIESS ABSOOIATIOK.I LONDON, 7th September. Sevcro fighting took place on the Ist inst. in north-eastern Korea. The Japaneso captured a difficult mountainous position. Tho casualties of the Japanese were sixty-six. The Russians left forty dead on tho Held. After five hours' fighting at Naibuti, on the west coast of Saglialien Island, on 30th August, tho Japanese completely crushed the Russians, killing one hundred and thirty. The Japanese casualties were small. RUSSIAN OFFICERS DISMISSED. ST. PETERSBURG, 7th September. Admiral Diebogatoff and tho contains of tho Impcrator Nicholas, the Admiral Seniavine, and tho Admiral General Apraxin, who took part in tho battle of Tsushima last May, have been deprived of their rank and dismissed frohl the service. All officers who surrendered their ships are to bo tried by court :nartia!. Previous to tho sailing of the auxiliary schooner Emma Sims on her trip to the Threa Kings yesterday, a telegram was re. coived from Mr. Rothschild, who lost a. quantity of jewellery in the wreck of the Tasmania, asking whether Mr. P. D. Leigh, the diver, who is going down to the Elingamito, could undertake the salvage of the jewels on tho Tasmania. Mr. Leigh, who has been a pearl diver, has been down 29 fathoms,,
