WHO MAY APPLY FOR PATENTS.
Under tho patent law in force in New Zealand, the following may mako applications for patents for inventions — viz., tho true- ana first inventor or inventors, the assignee of tho inventor, either by himself, or jointly with the inventor, or tho nomineo of the inventor, providing he is authorised by the inventor. , No distinction^ is mado. between the sexes, and an inspection of the records of the Patent Offices of all tho countries will show how large is tho number of women invontors. RLinors may also apply in their own rights. By truo and first inventor is meant tho one who first designs tho invention or discovers the pi'ocoss under which an articlo is manufactured. When an invontion has thus been designed it is to tho inventor's interest to sco that ho secures for himself tho reward given by tho State for his discovory — i.e., letters patent giving tho .nonopoly of tho right to mako and sell the invontion for a period of fourteen years. Tho mannor of obtaining such letters patent and all information relating to tho subject may bo obtained by consulting Henry Hughes, of Queen's Chambers (opposite Post Office), Weilington, a firm of patent agonts which has acted for thousands of inventors in. this rospoct. — Advt.
