[DT T£J EOBAPH. — PHESS ASSOCIATION.] ©ANNEVIRKE, This Day. v The body of William Saumkres, a rabbiter on the Kaitoki StaSon, who has been mksing since Thursday, was discovered in a stream yesterday morning. It is supposed the man missed his way in the dark and rode down a steep embankment into the water, where he was caught by a snag. CHRISTCHUBCH, 6th August. A married woman named Mary Ann Shaw, a boardinghou&e proprietor, was found dead in bed at 6 o'clock this morning She Had been suffering from a badvleg, and on Friday morning etated to her husband and daughter .that she •had taken some dissolved match-heads. On the evening of the sth 6he stated , to a married sister that she had not •poisoned herself. She refused to be at- ! tended by a doctor. , This Day. At the inquest on Mrs. M. A. Shaw ■the jury found -that the deceased had committed suicide by swallowing phosphorus. The woman was not. on happy terms with her husband. The jury added a rider that both the husband and daughter having seen deceased with matches in a cup should have called in a doctor, notwithstanding her denial that, she had taken a solution. The post mortem examination revealed poisoning by a laTge dose of phosphorus. DARGAVILLE, This Day. Waltei Pipctor, aged forty-five years, suddenly expired in M'Leod's store at Tangit-iki on Saturday. At the inquest a verdict of death from heart disease was returned.
