Luke (Chairman), the Rev. W. A. Evans, the Mayor of Onslow Borough (Mr. R. B. Williams), and Mr. M. Murdoch. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by the R«v. W. A. Evans, it was unanimous.y decided : — >"That on receipt of a written undertaking from Drs. Newman and Valintine, the Trustees of the Consumptive Hospital fund, . to hand over to the Wellington District HosI pital Board the promised sum of £2500, i and such further sum that may be agreed i on by the Board and the Trustees, to- ; wards the purchase of land, the Board | will give effect to the following resolu- | tion: — 'That for the purpose of a SMiii torium for the treatment of consumptron, . the Wellington. District Hospital Board ; resolves to acquire either by private purchase or by the provision of the i Public Works Act, 1894, the fifty acres (more or less) of land adjacent to the Otaki Hospital grounds— at present owned and occupied as a grazing run by I Ml. Geo. M'Beath. And, further, to ; acquire the lease or purchase by means j aforesaid, such land as the Board deems necessary to connect the present Hos- ! pital grounds with Mr. M'Beath's ' acres.'" j A deputation of Otaki Residents to I Sir Joseph Ward, formed to protest I against the site, recently made some I promise in the direction of finding money jto shift the sanatorium building to a ' site some little' distance away.
