A STRANDED WHALE.
[BY 'CELKGRAI'K. — fItESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, 18th July. While walking last night on the beach between Northcote and Birkcnhead Points, the attention of Captain Develin, | of the Albatross, was arrested by hearing j a blowing noise out in the bay. On approaching tho spot lie saw a monstrous fish apparently stranded on a sandb&nk, ! and making vigorous but ineffectual ef- j forts to escape. The creature, which wns ' secured, proved to be a whake of the j bottle-nosed species, about 25ft in length.
