Compared with May closing, all merinos advanced 7£ to 10 per cont. ; shabby crossbreds, 10 per cont.; choice ciossbrods suitable for America deolined 5 per cent. The Americans took all tho best wools. Richmond sold at lOgd, Nga< komri 12_id. There is no trade in rabbits. Spot hides firm; Queensland, 7Jd to 7id. Loather advanced jjd. For medium crossbred wools, prices aro on tho averago from par to 5 per cont. lower. 'Coarse crossbred wools, prioes are on tho average 10 'per cent higher. Total colonial wools available, inoluding old slocks, 125,000 bales. Out of tho net quantity available for sale 68,000 bales havo been sold for Homo consumption, 39,000 bales for tho Continent, 7000 bales for Amerioa, leaving 11,000 bales to bo carriod forward to next series." ."River Plate importers ask an advance prime quality mutton, owing to reduced quantity afloat; expect a further rise in prices next week of id per lb all descriptions frozen mutton.'

The new Anglican Church at Northland was crowded with, worshippers on Saturday afternoon, when the building v was opened with a religious ceremony appropriate to the occasion. The ceremony was taken part in by the Vicar (Rev. T. G. Kay), who fiook the evensong, ttie Revs. T. H. Sprott and A. L. Hansell, who read the lessons, and the Yen. Archdeacon Fancourt preached a sermon on "The Church as a living witness to the truth of Christianity." A number of clergymen from various parts of the diocese were amongst the congregation, and the Bulging was led by a combined choir from the Karori, Wadestown, Northland, St. I Paul's, and St. Thomas's parishes. Messrs. Anderson (organist) and Sutton were responsible for the musical portion of the service. Special services were continued in the Church yesterday, the Vicar presiding at the 8.30 o'clock, the afternoon (for children), and the ovening services, and tie Rev. H. Watson preaching at the Holy Communion at 11 a.m. Large congregations attended throughout the day, and the pretty little Church, was greatly admired. Tho Rev. G. P. Davys is to preach in the new Church on Wednesday next, and the Rev. T. H. Sprott on Friday. The Minister for Railways,, Sir Joseph Ward, was interviewed to-day by a deputation of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. H. Beauchainp acting as spokesman in the absence from Wellington of the President (Mr. Shirtcliffe). Messrs. G. Wilson and P. Nathan also spoke. The deputation dealt with a resolution by tho Chamber asking for extended goods-shed accommodation at tho Wellington Railway Station. Mr. Wilson emphasised the present delay, and the need for a cover to enablo carts to unload in wet weather. The Minister stated that he had already Authorised an extension of the goods-shed, and thought it would meet the requirements. Ho would look into the question of the cover for carts. Mr. Wilson -urged uTat the consignment note issued by the Railway Dopartm<tnt was too small for iSorao purposes, and, producing copies of tho two notes (one large and one small) issued by tho Wellington and Manawatu Company, suggested that the Department issue a large consignment note in addition to its present one. The Minister stated that this would be done. Other important subjects broached by the deputation are reported elsewhere. Messrs. Harcourt and Co. will submit at auction to-morrow, at 2.30 p.m., at thoir rooms, Lambton-quay, a building site in tho Tamo Estate, with a frontage of 92ft sin to tho Middle Waiwotu road, Lower Hult, by a depth of 454 ft, and containing nearly ono aero. Messrs. W. H. Morrah and Go. call attention to their auction sales as follows: To-morrow (Tuosday), furnituro and effects ; Wcdnosday, pictures, paintings, and mirrors; and on Thursday, over 200 oilskin coats, capes, and trousers. Particulars will bo found elsewhere. Messrs. Sidey, Moooh, and Co. will sell tho balanco of Mrs. M'Laughton's furnituro at their rooms, to-morrow, commencing at 2 p.m. also barbers' chairs, oto. Messrs. J. 11. Bolhuno and Co. will sell at their rooms, Feathorston-stroet, ,tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock, 800 books, including important orks on Now Zealand discovery and history.
