The market rato of discount for best three months' bills is 1-16 higher, at 1 13-16 per cent. The Bank of England rato is 2£ per cent., as against 3 pec cent, on 9th Alarch. COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. Wheat.— The wheat markets are quiet, ■with an easy tendency, owing to largo shipments and excellent orop prospects in Europe, but the unsettled state of Russia and the less favourable roports of American crops has checked the downward movement. There is a little demand for I cargoes ; 32s is asked for South Australian off coa3t, 31s 6d for Victorian, 32a 6d for South Australian July-August shipment. Australian, spot, 33s 3d to 53s 6d. Flour is quiet. Patent roller, London quotation 235; Glasgow 24s to 24s 6d. Butter is firm. Australian choicest is waking 102s. Danish, unchanged, at 1103 to 112s. Sugar is quiet. German beet, 88deg., Is Id lower, at 9s lid; fust mark granulated, f.o.b. Hamburg, Is 2d lower, at 12s Id per cwt. Bradford Tops.— The market is quiet. 40' s are quoted at 163 d; merino counts are hardening. THE METAL MARKETS. Copper.— Spot, £66 3s 9d to £66 8s 9d; three months', £66 63 3d to £66 11s 3d per ton. Tin.— Spot, £143 103 to £144; three months', £142 10s to £143 per ton. Pig-iron.— Middlesborough No. 1 cash, Id higher, at 453 od per ton. Lead, £13 12s 6d to £13 15s per ton. Spelter, £24 5s to £24 7s 6d per ton. CANTERBURY GRAIN MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, 14th July. There is rather moro enquiry on the part of local millera for wheat. There is a fair quantity of grain offering, but most holders are firm in maintaining their own ideas of values, and not a very large quantity is changing hands. Among tho principal sales reported are 2000 bushels of Tuscan and 350 bushels of the same variety at 2s Bd, 2000 bushels mixed at 2s Bd, 1000 bushels of Pearl at 2s 7|d, 1000 bushels of Hunters and 1000 bushels of Hunters and Pearl at 2s 7d, 400 bushels of Hunters and Tuscan at 2s 6£d, at country stations; and 5000 bushels of Pearl at 2s 3d at the mill. Oats_ are meeting <with good enquiry, with little offering, though a few lines have changed hands this week, including 800 bushels of milling Canadians at Is 7£d, a line of Sparrowbills and Cartons at Is 6d, 2400 bushels of Danish at Is sid, and 1000 bushels of duns at Is 7d. Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co. havo received tho following cablegram from London, dated 14th July: — "The 6alcs have closed without any further chango excepting for inferior and faulty descriptions of scoured wools, both merino and crossbred, which are weaker, and very irregular. 12,000 bales are held over for future- disposal." The New Zealand Loan and Mercantilo Agency Co., Ltd., havo roceired the following cablegram from London, under yesterday's date :— "Wool.— Market closed strong. As compared with last sales closing rates prices aro higher, about 5 per cent, to 7i per cent, for crossbred slipe, morino, and scoured crossbred; and about 7i per cent, to 10 per cont. for_ coarse greasy crossbred. Decreased American demand for crossbred wool. Market easier for medium greasy crossbred and fine greasy crossbred. Averago current London value of the undermentioned descriptions of New Zealand greasy wool:— Good merino, 14d; medium merino, 12|d; inferior merino, lCd; fine crossbred, 13id; medium crossbred, I2d ; coarse crossbred (40's), lid ; coarse crossbred (36's), 10£ d."
