Dr. Templo Perkins, Wellington South, has been appointed Physician and Lecturer to St. Iletens Hospital, Rintoul-str'eot. It ia expected that the Hospital will bo ready for tho admission of patients by tho end of next week. Ho boa accopted tho offer and will shortly tako up his resklonco in that city. Owing to the dealb of his father (Mr. John P. Orr, of Wellington), Mr. Alec Forbes Orr h.is resifpied his position in tho Musgrovo Comedy Company. Mr. Orr, who has been on the stago for somo years, loaves the Musgrovo Company at New I'lymouth, and then comes to Wellington to administer his father's estate The Ha-wkos Bay Herald announces tho ietith of Mrs. Mnrgarct M'Orath (mother ■>f Mr. W. J. M'Orath, a prominent Naoier resident). Tho deceased lady arrived in New Zealand forty-two years ago, and was tho first white woman that w/nt to Mnhin, where her husband carried on lm«incss as a storekeeper. During the Maori troubles of that time, Mrs. MGrapt had many exciting experiences. On one occasion the Hauhaus set firo to the store at Mahta while she was inride, but she managed to escape from the burning building, »nd was taken care of by the friendly natives until able to return to Napier. The staff of tho New Zealand Times gathered in the editorial rooms yestprday afternoon to make a presentation to Mr. P. J. Nolan, who, after having been for some yoars chief reporter on mir contemporary's stuff, has accepted a position on the Sydney Daily Telegraph. Tho gift of a. sold albert and greenntono pendant was handed to Mr. Nolan by Mr. J. L. Kelly, editor, who spoko of the extreme regret of the staff at their comrade's departure, and expressed, on behalf of Mr. Nolan's friends, tho wannest good wishes for a continuance of success in hist career. Mr. D. M. Mr. Nolan is a passenger by the Wailiare for Sydney to-day.
