FOOTBALL.
The annual report of the Petono Footbait Club, to be presented at the meeting on Monday night, congiatulates members .on tho brilliant success of the club during the past sea-son in all competitions. s Tho senior and junior championships were won, and in the third and fourth competitions tho Potone fifteens were practically run-ners-up. The Wednesday team's record was a bad one, which was in a large measure due lo the Rugby Union neglecting to advise it of fixtures. The committee congratulated M'Gregor and Cross on securing places in the New Zealand representative team, and M'Grogor on his inclusion iv tho tenm to tour England. All had fully justified their inclusion. Hardham, M'Gregor, Cross, Barber, Wright, Driscell, Knight, and Ryan all secured senior representative honours; K. King, Thompson, Cairns, anil J. Ryan were junior reps. Tho form shown by the juniors under J. Cairns was almost equul to senior, and tho team went through with an un- , beaten record. In tho previous report, players were advised to go in for strict training. They took the advice, and the result was unequalled success. The finances of tho club continued to be strong — the credit biilanco exceeded £30. Messrs. J. Cotton, Hooper, and J. T. King were thanked for trophies. The committee felt it could not conclude its report without some reference to the undeserved stric- ; turcs passed by tho Wellington press on I tho Petono team. j The third annual meeting of the Selwyn Football Club was hold in Batkin's Rooms- i last night. Fifty members weio present, and Mr. W. Gosling presided. The ie- , port stated that ths past year had been fairly successful. Tho fourth-class team won seven games, lost three, and ono was drawn. The fifths bcored five wins, three losses, and one draw. The club is in a good position financially. Nineteen new inembeis were elected. The officers for the onsuing your arc: — President, Mr. J. ! Hod (re-elected) ; Vice-Presidents, Messrs. Ahradscn, Q- Clark, and C. Martin (reelected), and Mr. Harris, eenr. ; Club Captain, Mr. O. Moran j Secretary, Mr. W. Gosling ; Treasurer, iur. A. Murray J (re-elected) ; Management Committee, Messrs, Cooper, J. Mackie, J, Moran, W. llarrm, and P. Gcogehan ; Delegato to W.R.F.U., Mr. W. Gosling (re-elected) ; Auditois, Messrs. Ahradsen and Harris, ' sour. Social and Rules Committees were formed, the former comprising Messrs. E. "1 Morgan, A. Murray, C. Pitts, J. Casoy, and the Secretary, and the latter Messrs. , J Mackie, A. Murray, and G. Moran. J The meeting decided that, as the club was in a portion to advance, teams be ■ entered for tho third, fourth, and fifth c class championships during tho coining season. Tho Secretaiy was instructed to uniinge a lour for the Easter holidays mid a practice match for the 25th March. A hearty vote of thanks to the outgoing i.fiiccrs, the committee, and the press concluded an enthusiastic meeting.
