WELLINGTON PHYSICAL TRAINING SCHOOL.
ANNUAL MEETING. Tho eighth annual meeting of tho Wellington Physical Training School mid Gymnasium wax held last night, Mr. T. S. Uonuldson, Chuirmuu of Committee, presiding. Tho annual leport stated that the gymnasium continued to hold the premier position. The financial position, while not altogether so strong us in the past, must be considered satisfactoiy. Working expenses wero considerably heavier, and outstanding subscriptions wero considerable. Tho not receipts at the annual display in October were smaller than in tho previous year, being only £29, duo to counter attractions. The classes wero well attended during the year, and members appeared well ».itislied with their work and its results. Tho balance-sheet hhowod that tho roceipts during the year totalled £528, and that tho expenditure amounted to übout tho same sum. Tho Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, wild the members had reason to bo satisfied with the gymuusium and with tho way ill which Miv Dovey, tho instructor, was discharging his duties. Sinco last annual meeting he (tho Chairman) had visited gymnasiums in other parts of tho colony, and ho was satisfied that the Wellington School of Physical Training had nothing to leurn from them. Tho subscriptions for Iho year amounted to about £300— the same, as for the previous twelve months. Tho school had taken! a great responsibility in taking over tho lease of WuiUiker's Buildings, in which Iho gymnasium was established. The 1 sum of £250 had been paid for (he Icoho, and the annual ient.nl wns £780. Tho figures wero large, but ho believed that things would turn out all right. The Trustees had made themselves liable for tho lental, and so far the. receipts from tho rooms not used by tho school iUiolf had boon satisfactory. Tho motion was seconded by Mr. H. 11. Woston, F. Rogers, S. Giiinbrill (re-elected), A. E. Odlin, M. Burr, John Lyon, and C. Girdlestone ; Ilou. Socretury, Mr. W. 11. Jones (re-elected) ; Assistant Hon. Secretary, Mr. L. M. Espngne ; Hon. Medical Advisers, Dr. Collins (re-elected) and Dr. M'Lcan ; Hon. Treasurer, Mr. H. H. Seed (re-elected) ; Assistant Hon. Ticasurer, Mr. Q. Lyon ; Auditor, Mr. P. Thompson (re-elected). On tho motion of Mr. A. E. Odlin a vote of thanks was passed to last year's officers, special mention being mado of tho manner in which Mr. Jones had performed tho work of secretary.
